Bonsai tend to blossom in the spring time, and with a flourishing new industry also comes a blossom of new terms that you may be unfamiliar with, and the vaping industry is no different. So it’s definitely okay to be a bit confused when it comes to this new terminology. After all, Oxford Dictionary only added the term “vape” to their official dictionary in 2015.
Before we get into the answer, let’s take it back a bit. First came the new wave of electronic cigarettes in the early 2000’s, which were pretty simple to understand from a conceptual standpoint. There cigarettes, but just electronic. Easy, right? Well, the answer to our question lies in how e-cigarettes work from a technical standpoint.
E-cigs are battery powered devices which convert a mixture of liquid nicotine, vegetable glycerin or propylene glycol (otherwise known as e-liquids or vape juice) into mist which is than inhaled. If you’re looking for this solution to fill up your own e-cigarettes, feel free to browse premium vape juice online once your done reading this article.
Now back to my point. The e-liquids in e-cigarettes are heated up by a battery and converted into mist. What’s another word for mist? That’s right, you got it … vapor.
This means when you inhale or use an electronic cig, you are vaping! It follows that inhaling e-cigs and vaping are one and the same. So, if that’s the case why all the confusion?
This is due to the evolution of the e-cig. Consumers were simply not satisfied with the quality of early e-cigarettes, so the more savvy of us began to create modifications to existing products, which eventually led to companies building upon these ideas, which then evolved into the modern day vaporizer you see today.
Examples of these upgrades include the use of atomizers, cartomizers, clearomizers, tanks and advanced mouthpiece and inhalers which we’ll cover in another post. These suped up, upgraded electronic cigarettes began to be called “vapes” or “vaporizers”, even though in essence they are simply e-cigarettes with some cool adjustments.
The conclusion: vaporizers and e-cigarettes are one and the same, and “vaping” is simply the actual act of inhaling an e-cig!
